New Hope for Team Leaders
I bet your Leaders do not love the leadership they provide for their team members right now.
I also bet you know you could all do a much better job leading your teams if you had the time, tools and support you need. So what's stopping you all?
I've written before about my pet hate for #workplaceleadership, and I will no doubt continue to do so until it changes or I die.
The Expectation: Team Leaders manage a team and are expected to get the best from their Team collectively and individually. They will achieve this whilst also achieving the outcomes of their day-to-day tasks.
The Reality: Achieving their day-to-day role tasks consumes each day, and Leading the Team, and its individual members is always "next" on the list. I'll get to it tomorrow, if not, next week.
My Solution: Make "Leading the Team" the KPI and delegate the task load to the Team. Simple, really, but I know from espousing this theory for four decades that it's not happening. After forty years of banging my head against a stonewall, I have a compromise deal to offer.
